Jammu, Dec 08: Manish Sahni, the President of the Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit, has expressed his belief that former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is the ideal leader to take the India alliance to success.
Responding to questions about the leadership speculation within the India alliance, Sahni said, “Uddhav Thackeray should be the main face of the India alliance.” He highlighted Thackeray’s leadership role in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, where, as the head of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), Thackeray played a crucial part in halting the BJP’s winning streak in the state. Sahni added that the decision not to make Thackeray the face of the alliance in the assembly elections had already resulted in consequences for the opposition parties.
Sahni also noted that Thackeray has the ability to challenge the BJP’s portrayal of Hindutva, calling the BJP’s version of Hindutva misleading. “In North India, the BJP is trying to gain political mileage by misguiding the people in the name of Hindutva. Uddhav Thackeray, with his unique image of secular-Hindutva, should be the face of the India alliance,” Sahni stated.
Thackeray’s leadership has been a point of contention within the opposition, with many, including Sahni, arguing that his experience and vision make him a strong candidate to lead the alliance in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
