Jammu, July 14: Former minister and President National Conference Central Zone, Babu Ram Paul on Friday said the UT government could announce the municipal elections anytime after the culmination of Shri Amarnath Yatra and asked the party cadre to gear up for the polls.
He was speaking during a meeting which was organized at Bahu Fort here. The meeting was attended by a number of party workers, particularly the youth.
Babu Ram Paul was the chief guest and Ankush Abrol Provincial Joint Secretary JKNC, presided over the meeting. The meeting was organized by Dr Vikas Sharma Zonal Secretary and Coordinator Jammu District (Urban), JKNC.
Babu Ram Paul urged upon the workers to hold extensive outreach campaigns to speed up their public connect in the wake of forthcoming municipal elections. He directed the party cadre to reach out to every household falling within the jurisdiction of their respective municipal Ward and deliver the message of the party to the public. “The erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir was rich in cultural heritage and communal harmony which has been snatched away from the people through various means,” he said.
“The present administration has imposed various types of taxes on the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the recent in line is property tax but it has failed to deliver at the grassroots level. The National Conference is the only party which can deliver justice to the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
He assured the youth that NC will not leave any stone unturned for the cause of unemployed youth. “NC has always worked for youth and its past rule in J&K is a testimony to that. But during the last 7 years our youth is suffering badly due to the wrong policies of the dispensation,” he said.
Rampaul further said, “Before 5th August 2019, Jammu used to be called as ‘City of Temples’ when people were getting all basic facilities like drinking water, power and clean roads. But, sadly, after August 5th, 2019 Jammu city was painted as Smart City with people now facing tremendous problems with regard to drinking water supply, and electricity as even roads connecting streets are in broken conditions.”
