Srinagar, Oct 31: In a fervent display of national unity and reverence for the “Iron Man of India,” the 75th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) organized a “Run for Unity” on the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary, celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. Commandant K K Pandey, leading the event, flagged off the run from Hari Niwas camp, Gupkar road, to Zeastha Mata Mandir and back. The run was a symbolic gesture of unity, bringing together personnel from all ranks, including the Commanding Officer, to propagate the message of national unity.
After the spirited run, all personnel gathered at the battalion premises to solemnly take the National Unity Day pledge. With unwavering determination, they committed themselves to safeguarding the unity, integrity, and security of the nation, putting the interests of the nation above all else while fulfilling their duties.
During the ceremony, Pandey emphasized the pivotal role played by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, often referred to as the “Father of CRPF,” in ensuring the unity and integrity of the nation following its independence. Sardar Patel’s visionary leadership and strategic acumen were instrumental in the integration of 562 princely states into independent India, averting the potential fragmentation of the country. As a mark of respect and tribute to this great leader, his birth anniversary is celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas across India, serving as a reminder of the paramount importance of national unity and the enduring values cherished by Sardar Patel.
The occasion was further adorned with recognition as Commandant K K Pandey, Arun Kumar Rana, Assistant Commandant, and Constable Avinash Kumar were presented with DG commendation discs and certificates in an investiture ceremony presided over by IG Srinagar sector. This acknowledgment underscored their exemplary contributions and unwavering dedication to the cause of national unity.
The 75th Battalion CRPF remains steadfast in its commitment to nurture Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s vision and uphold his cherished values in the course of its operations and duties. This celebration stands as a testament to the CRPF’s unwavering dedication to the unity and integrity of the nation, echoing the timeless principles set forth by the “Iron Man of India.”
