Srinagar, Feb 09: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Police successfully organized a campaign under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan as part of the Civic Action Programme. The event was aimed at raising awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse while promoting a healthier and drug-free society. The event was coordinated by Dr. Vikram Singh, Dr. Rajiv Kumar (NSS Programme Coordinator), and Dr. Varun Dutta (NCC Coordinator), with the active involvement of NSS volunteers and NCC cadets, who played a crucial role in the smooth execution of the campaign. As part of the event, a debate competition was organized, where students actively engaged in discussions on the pressing issue of drug abuse. The competition provided a platform for students to express their views on the causes, consequences, and possible solutions to combat substance abuse.

In addition to the debate, an expert lecture on the New Criminal Law was delivered by Prosecuting Officer, DPO Reasi, Shikha Jamwal. She provided valuable insights into the latest legal reforms, emphasizing how the amended criminal laws address drug-related offenses and substance abuse cases.

The function was graced by several esteemed dignitaries, including Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, who attended as the Chief Guest, and DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Rayees Mohd. Bhat, who presided over the event. Other distinguished guests present included Prof. Amit Kant Pandit, Amod Nagpur, SSP Udhampur, Paramvir Singh, SSP Reasi, Pardeep Giri Goswami, Commandant 06 Bn, CRPF, .Vipin Chandran, SP katra. The campaign served as an impactful initiative to educate students about the dangers of substance abuse while equipping them with legal knowledge and civic responsibility.
