Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan prog, senior citizens’ day held in Anantnag

Anantnag, Aug 21: An awareness programme under the aegis of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) was on Monday organized by the District Administration Anantnag and District Social Welfare department at Town Hall Anantnag. The Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Anantnag was the chief guest at the event.
Among others, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, District Officer Excise and Taxation participated in the programme. Moreover, students and teachers from various educational institutions also participated in the event. The distinguished resource persons from various departments spoke extensively on drug-related issues.
The thematic NMBA-based culture programmes were presented by students from various institutions. Raja Art Culture artists displayed a special skid item which was applauded by all participants. This collaborative initiative underscores the resolve of District Anantnag to shield its youth from the clutches of substance abuse. The program fostered networking and mutual cooperation among educational leaders, promoting a united front against this pressing societal challenge.
District Social Welfare Officer, Anantnag extended his gratitude to the expert resource persons and program attendees for their active involvement in this initiative. He emphasized his office’s dedication to providing continuous support and resources to educational institutions in their mission to create drug-free campuses. Many felicitations were carried to acknowledge the efforts of those who have done commendable jobs in the field.
Later on, National Senior Citizen’s Day was celebrated at Town Hall Anantnag with great enthusiasm. The senior citizens from the various areas of the district were invited to grace the occasion to mark the occasion.  Various events were also held for the senior citizens.
During the event, District Social Welfare Officer Anantnag highlighted various issues pertaining to senior citizens. The experts from the health department gave detailed information to the guests about various ailments affecting senior citizens in particular. The resource person from DLSA highlighted various laws pertaining to senior citizens.
At the conclusion of the event, a presentation was given about the various facilities available at two senior citizen homes presently being run by the department. On the occasion, senior citizens were given carrom boards.
