Srinagar, Oct 21: In the wake of a tragic terror attack in Gagangeer in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district that claimed the lives of six workers and a doctor, various political parties in Jammu and Kashmir have come together in a collective expression of outrage and sorrow.
Leaders from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Apni Party, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF), Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) have voiced their condemnation of the senseless violence that further destabilises the region.
Brutal assault on innocent lives: PDP
The J&K People’s Democratic Party, under the leadership of General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, convened a solemn meeting to express condolences and strongly denounce the killings in Gagangeer. Hanjura termed the act as a brutal assault on innocent lives, which exacerbates the region’s ongoing suffering.
“This attack is not only an assault on our society but a deep wound that will take time to heal,” he said in a statement.
With senior leaders present, Hanjura expressed solidarity with the affected families. “Their pain is our pain, and we will not rest until justice is served,” he said.
Pak-sponsored terrorism will be defeated decisively: BJP’s Chugh
BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh condemned the heinous killing of seven workers, asserting that it reflected the cowardice of terrorists backed by Pakistan’s ISI. Chugh expressed condolences to the bereaved families and criticised the attacks as signs of frustration from terrorists following the peaceful completion of the Assembly elections.
“The nefarious designs of Pakistan-backed terrorists would be decisively defeated, as security forces have been adequately strengthened on the basis of zero tolerance towards terrorism to protect the lives of the people,” he said.
Attempt to disrupt prevailing peace: Altaf Bukhari
Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari shared profound grief over the terror attack that claimed several lives. He denounced the violence as a cowardly act targeting defenceless individuals who only sought to earn a livelihood.
In a statement issued here, he said, “I am deeply grieved by the loss of these innocent lives. These labourers were here only to earn their livelihood to feed their families back home. The brutal attack on defenceless and vulnerable individuals reflects the worst form of cowardice. The perpetrators have displayed a complete disregard for human lives.”
He added, “This terror attack appears to have been carried out to disrupt the prevailing peace in Jammu and Kashmir. Such senseless violence only brings misery and tragedy to the people, who have already endured immense suffering in terms of facing deaths and destruction over the past three decades. They cannot bear further bloodshed and destruction on this soil. After years of conflict, J&K needs sustained peace and stability, and the people desperately require solace and relief.”
The Apni Party president urged the security agencies to ensure the perpetrators of this heinous attack are nabbed and brought to justice.
It’s a murder of humanity: PDF chief Hakeem Yaseen
PDF chairman Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen expressed deep shock and sorrow over the brutal killings at Gagangeer. He labelled the attack a “murder of humanity” and called for the urgent need to revamp security measures to safeguard innocent lives. Yaseen extended heartfelt sympathies to the victims’ families and called for renewed efforts to prevent such atrocities in the future.
Shiv Sainiks burn Pak flag, demand action
Members of Shiv Sena (UBT) staged a protest in Jammu, burning the Pakistan flag and an effigy of a terrorist organisation to condemn the attacks. Led by Manish Sahni, the protestors called for a strong military response and questioned the effectiveness of current intelligence measures. Sahni demanded surgical strikes on terrorist hideouts and compensation for the families of the deceased. He criticised the present administration’s handling of security concerns in the region.
JKNPP calls for strong action against Pakistan
J&KNPP-Bhim president Vilakshan Singh vehemently condemned the terror attack, expressing outrage at the targeting of innocent lives. Demanding decisive action against those perpetuating terror in Jammu and Kashmir, he urged the central government to hold Pakistan accountable for its sponsorship of terrorism. “J&K people deserve to live free from fear,” he said and called for unity across political lines to combat terrorism effectively.
