• Announces minibuses for Degree College Uri
• Chairs meetings on water & power supply

Baramulla, Oct 17: Member Parliament, Baramulla Er Rashid on Thursday conducted a comprehensive visit to address various educational, infrastructure and public service issues in the district.
He commenced his visit at the Northern Federation Blind School Baramulla, where he announced Rs 50,000 as a token of support from his salary and Rs 3 lakh from his MP fund to procure essential equipment for otherwise specially-abled students, alongside a commitment to assist in acquiring land for the school building.
Later, the MP visited NHPC Uri where he engaged with casual laborers and the NHPC Union, addressing long-standing issues regarding regularisation. He followed this by meeting senior NHPC officials to ensure the workers’ concerns were adequately addressed.
MP Rashid also visited Government Degree College Uri, where he interacted with the faculty and students. He promised to address the pressing issues of staff shortages and infrastructure gaps. To ease student transportation issues, he announced a minibus for the college from his MP fund.
Er Rashid chaired a key meeting with the Chief Engineer, PHE and officials of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, where they reviewed the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). He highlighted the need for completing pending projects, filtration plants and improving water supply infrastructure.
Later, the Member Parliament visited the Sumbal Sonawari assembly constituency along with the Chief Engineer and senior officers of the PHE. He inspected the filtration plant in Nowgam Sumbal, which has remained incomplete for several years, setting a firm deadline for completion by November. He also addressed the issue of the defunct rising main in Sumbal town, sanctioning Rs 11 lakh from his MPLAD fund for immediate repairs.
In the evening, Er Rashid convened a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat with the Principal Secretary of the Power Development Department, which was attended by the MD of KPDCL and Chief Engineers. The discussions focused on addressing power outages and improving infrastructure in north Kashmir.
MP Rashid emphasised the urgent need for minimised power bills for BPL families, stressing that their consumption cannot be compared to that of normal households. He urged the department to take immediate measures to ease the burden on underprivileged families, ensuring that their needs are met without imposing undue financial strain.
