Ranbir Singh Pura (RS Pura) of Jammu region is renowned for producing high-quality basmati rice, which is being sought after worldwide for its distinctive aroma and flavour, making it a popular choice for a wide range of dishes.

The Basmati rice, rich in distinctive taste, from RS Pura, is also exported to various countries across the world due to its high demand.

Apart from this, the Basmati rice is also supplied to various states of India on demand due to its several digestive qualities and unmatched aroma, which can not be found in any other variety of rice produced in other states of the country.

RS Pura Basmati rice is a premium quality rice variety that is highly sought after by chefs and food lovers around the world.

In addition to its delicious flavor, this type of Basmati rice also has several health benefits. Basmati rice, in general, is known to be a healthier option than other types of rice, as it has a lower glycemic index and is less likely to cause spikes in blood sugar levels.

This Basmati rice is known for its high fiber content, which can help improve digestive health and promote satiety. The rice is also a good source of vitamin B and minerals, such as magnesium and potassium, which are important for maintaining overall health and well-being.

India is known for its rich agricultural heritage and the production of various food crops, including rice.

The cultivation of basmati rice in RS Pura dates back to the early 1900s. The RS Pura region, which is located in the southwestern part of Jammu and Kashmir, was known for its fertile soil, abundant water supply, and favorable climate, which makes it an ideal location for rice cultivation.

Over the years, the farmers in the region developed specific cultivation practices that helped produce a unique variety of basmati rice, which came to be known as RS Pura Basmati.

The rice grains are slender and tapered at both ends, giving them an elegant appearance and making it most sought after worldwide.

One of the key factors that contribute to the high quality of this Basmati is the region’s favorable climate and soil conditions, which are not found elsewhere in Jammu.

The soil in the region is rich in organic matter, which helps provide the essential nutrients that the rice plants need to grow and thrive.

The RS Pura region also receives abundant rainfall, which helps keep the soil moist and the rice plants hydrated. The combination of these factors contributes to the unique flavor and texture of RS Pura Basmati.

The long grains of RS Pura Basmati make it an ideal option for dishes that require separate, fluffy grains, such as fried rice or pilaf. Additionally, the premium quality of RS Pura Basmati makes it a popular choice for gifting or for special occasions.

One of the unique uses of RS Pura Basmati is for making Kheer, a traditional Indian dessert made with milk, sugar, and rice.

The long, slender grains of RS Pura Basmati are perfect for this dish, as they absorb the flavors of the milk and sugar and become soft and creamy.

The cultivation and harvesting of RS Pura Basmati follows a specific set of practices that have been refined over the years by the farmers in the region.

The process starts with selecting the best quality seeds, which are then sown in fields that have been prepared with organic fertilizers and soil conditioners.

The seeds are typically sown in late April or early May and are irrigated regularly to keep the soil moist.

As the rice plants grow, they are periodically weeded and the soil is aerated to ensure proper root development.

In late August or early September, the rice plants are ready for harvesting. The grains are allowed to mature on the plant for several weeks before being harvested by hand.

Once the grains are harvested, they are dried and processed using traditional methods. The husk is removed, and the rice is carefully cleaned and sorted to remove any impurities.

The final product is then packaged and shipped to retailers and distributors around the world.
