Srinagar, 06 May: National Conference (NC) State Women’s Wing President and MLA Habba Kadal Shameema Firdous on Tuesday condemned the reported incident of sexual assault resulting in the death of a tribal woman in Nishat. She urged the law-enforcing authorities to take strict action against the perpetrators of the heinous and unforgivable act.
In a statement issued here, Firdous condemned the recent heinous crime as shameful and unforgivable. She demanded immediate and strict action against the culprits, saying justice must be served.
“This brutal act is not just a crime against one woman, but an attack on our entire social fabric. Such inhumanity cannot be tolerated in any civilised society. Acts like these should serve as a wake-up call for our society to take action,” she said, adding, “Parents, religious leaders, and teachers have an extra duty to mould our youngsters in the teachings of our great saints, sages, and great men.”
The NC leader called for a fair, high-level inquiry into the brutal incident. “Law enforcement agencies must act without delay to ensure justice and safety for our mothers and sisters,” she added.
Meanwhile, the party’s Provincial President Women’s Wing, Er Sabiya Qadri also strongly condemned the beastly act, demanding stern action against the culprits.
Sagar demands special compensation for victim’s family
National Conference (NC) General Secretary and MLA Khanyar, Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar chaired a meeting with Block level office bearers of Khanyar-B (Harwan) block on Tuesday.
“The meeting focused on discussing developmental plans and addressing urgent matters. It ended with a unanimous condemnation of the Nishat tragedy, where a woman was brutally assaulted, molested and murdered,” the party said in a statement issued here.
Sagar vowed to support the victims in their pursuit of justice and made a heartfelt plea to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for special compensation to be provided to the grieving family on humanitarian grounds.
“I am deeply shocked and heartbroken by the tragic incident resulting in the death of a tribal woman in Nishat. The police have apprehended the accused, who were reportedly intoxicated at the time of the crime. My heartfelt condolences go out to the victim’s family. I fervently hope that the perpetrators are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” he said.
