Jammu, May 30: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Ramgarh, Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal on Friday visited the historic Bamu Temple, a culturally and historically significant site estimated to be around 175–200 years old.
“Constructed by Bamu Shah, the temple is built on a small, square-shaped raised platform made of bricks. Its inner and outer walls are beautifully adorned with vibrant wall paintings depicting various episodes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata,” the MLA said in a statement issued here.
It added, “Built parallel to the Abtal Temple, it stands as a symbol of the region’s spiritual and artistic heritage. As per historical records, Maharaja Gulab Singh had granted several acres of land to Bamu Shah in recognition of his dedication and service.”
During his visit, Dr Manyal announced the construction of a new road that will connect the historically important sites of Chambyal, Bamu Shah Temple and Abtal Mandir. “This major infrastructure development aims to boost heritage and religious tourism, improve connectivity, and enhance local economic opportunities,” he said.
The MLA said connecting these sites with a dedicated road will open new avenues for tourism, cultural preservation and economic development in the region.
Former BDC Chairman Darshan Singh, Sarpanch Abtal Tajinder Singh and Anil Gupta, present at the occasion, welcomed the announcement. They called for preserving such invaluable cultural landmarks.
