Srinagar, March 08 : MLA Hazratbal, Salman Ali Sagar, raised serious concerns about the ongoing water scarcity crisis in the Hazratbal constituency during the ongoing Assembly session. Highlighting the persistent challenges faced by residents, he sought the government’s response on several critical issues.
Sagar questioned the prolonged issues surrounding the SE and Mowas Canal, urging the authorities to take swift action to resolve them. He also emphasized the urgent need to augment the Hadura 0.5 MG water plant to address the severe water shortage in areas like Phaak and Hazratbal.
Additionally, Sagar called for the construction of bore-wells or tube-wells in rural regions such as Fakir Gujri, Gandtal, Dharbagh, and adjoining areas to alleviate the crisis.
Responding to these concerns, the Ministry of Jal Shakti provided a detailed explanation of the steps taken so far and outlined future measures planned to improve the water supply in these regions.
Stressing the urgency of the situation, Sagar appealed to the government to expedite the necessary projects to ensure residents of both urban and rural Hazratbal have access to an adequate drinking water supply.
