MeT predicts  dry weather in Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 20: The Meteorological Department (MeT) Sunday predicted dry and clear weather till the end of  November in Kashmir. According to met officials W ski resort Gulmarg continued to remain under sub-zero temperatures for the 4th consecutive day with a low temperature of minus 2.0°C.
Director MeT office, Sonam Lotus told Rising Kashmir that  the weather had improved significantly in Kashmir region on Sunday.  “We are expecting mainly dry weather till November end.” he said.
He said in the coming days, there will be a slight decrease in day temperatures in the Valley and evenings will be colder.
The Met office revealed that on Sunday, Srinagar recorded 13.2 °C as the maximum and 3.2 °C     as the minimum temperature.  Ski-resort Gulmarg recorded 3.9 °C  maximum temperature and the minimum temperature settled at minus 1.8°C. Gulmarg remained the coldest place in Kashmir.
Health resort Pahalgam recorded 10.3 °C and a minimum of 2.3 °C degrees. Qazigund recorded a maximum of 12.2°C and 4.6° C as minimum temperature.
Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded maximum temperatures of 14.6 °C, while minimum temperatures settled at 3.3 °C
As per the traffic advisory issued by the traffic department for Monday, subject to fair weather and better road condition, LMVs(passengers) shall be allowed from both sides of Jammu-Srinagar NHW viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
“TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall cooperate with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic,” it revealed.
On the Srinagar-Leh highway, “Subject to fair weather and good road condition, vehicular movement on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road shall be allowed from Kargil towards Srinagar ” the official said.
He said in view of winter season/ frost on road, LMVs followed by HMVs shall be allowed from Minamarg towards Srinagar from 10 am. Similarly, HMVs shall be allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil at 1 PM to 5 PM.
On historic Mughal road, subject to fair weather and good road condition, vehicular movement shall be allowed from both sides on Mughal road viz  from Shopian towards Poonch and vice versa.
“ In view of winter season/frost on road, LMVs  will be released from Behramgalla (Buffliaz), Poonch towards Srinagar and from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch and it will be followed by HMV’s,” reads traffic the advisory.
