Srinagar, Aug 9: The ongoing celebration of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, commemorating the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence, has reached a crescendo with the launch of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign. This campaign, initiated on Wednesday and slated to conclude on August 30, 2023, pays homage to the valiant heroes and heroines, known as ‘Veers’ and ‘Veeranganas’, who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the motherland.
The campaign’s initiation was marked by a poignant ceremony held at Govt. High School in Lal Bazar, where the 144th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) played a pivotal role. The event witnessed a variety of activities, including an essay writing competition and a tree plantation drive. Enthusiastic participation was displayed by both students and staff members of GHS Lal Bazar.
During the ceremony, a five-point pledge centered around the theme of ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ was taken by all participants. Furthermore, soil from the location of these activities was collected, symbolizing the unity and strength of the nation, and will be carried to the national capital as part of the Amrit Kalash Yatra.
Nadeem Ahmad Samdani, Commandant of the 144th Bn CRPF, presided over the program along with Mashqoor Ahmad Zargar, SP Hazratbal, and the Principal of GHS Lal Bazar. In his address, Samdani expressed immense pride in celebrating the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign in the historically significant region of Kashmir. He highlighted the immense sacrifice made by countless martyrs in the region and stressed the importance of national integrity and communal harmony.
As a gesture of recognition, Samdani distributed prizes and certificates to the participants. Ajay Kumar Verma, Second in Command of the 144th Bn CRPF, expressed his gratitude towards the guests and participants, concluding the program with a heartwarming rendition of the National Anthem.
