Jammu, Nov 04: A major tragedy was averted on Saturday evening after police recovered a two kg tiffin box timer based Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on Jammu Srinagar National Highway near Narwal area of Jammu.
The officials revealed that on the basis of specific information received, police acted swiftly and recovered two kg tiffin box timer based Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from the Jammu-Srinagar Highway thus averting a major tragedy.
The Police spokesman said, “On Saturday at around 05:30 PM in the evening, an information was received that some suspicious object is lying on Sidhra Narwal highway stretch in Jammu near a police check point. Immediately, on receiving information, the team of police along with Police Component Jammu and Dog Squad rushed to the spot and in search of suspicious material, it was found to be a Tiffin Box timer based IED weighing around two kilograms”.
The Police has taken the tiffin box into its possession after successful detonation, the spokesman said adding that a case under relevant sections has been registered and further investigation has been going on.
