On the occasion, local theatre artists performed an impactful act that proved to be the vibrant voter awareness.
Nodal Officer Media, Chief Electoral Office UT of Jammu and Kashmir, Sapna Kotwal said that such awareness programs are significant for mass participation in nation-building through elections.
She said a well-informed electorate ensures a vibrant and representative democracy.
The initiative resonates with the commitment of the Chief Electoral Office to inspire the young voters towards the electoral process and strengthen the democratic setup to empower citizens, Sapna Kotwal added.
The Nodal Officer Media further said that starting tomorrow, voter awareness jingles will be played in TRC buses to reach the maximum number of voters.
Through initiatives like the Nukkad Natak at Lal Chowk and the upcoming jingles in TRC buses, we aim to engage and educate voters from all walks of life,” stated Akhtar Hussain Qazi, Nodal Officer SVEEP.
Artists and spectators said it was the first time people had witnessed a street play in a busy Sunday Market.
On occasion, noted folk singer and National Awardee, Gulzar Ahmed Ganai said that the program was aimed to enhance understanding of voting-related processes and promote electoral literacy, especially among first-time voters, preparing them for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
This is pertinent to mention that Election Commission (EC), through the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, is making an unprecedented attempt to reach out to different sections of society in the three constituencies.
