Poonch, Aug 23: A Lok Adalat was successfully organised today at the District Court Poonch, where dozens of long-pending civil and traffic-related cases were amicably resolved. To facilitate the general public, four dedicated benches were established within the court complex, where the respected judges heard and settled disputes that had remained pending for years.Speaking on the occasion, Additional Sessions Justice Ahsan Malik highlighted the primary purpose of Lok Adalats, stating, “The objective of Lok Adalat is to provide speedy and consensual justice to the people. Here, decisions are made with the mutual agreement of both parties so that no one feels they have lost. These settlements are always based on a win-win situation.”Justice Malik further explained that one of the key features of Lok Adalats is that their decisions cannot be appealed, which saves both parties from years of lengthy legal procedures and heavy financial expenses. “Today’s session not only cleared several old civil disputes but also settled a large number of traffic challans, bringing relief especially to unemployed youth,” he added.Lawyers and bench members also played a vital role in convincing the litigants and facilitating reconciliations. Their efforts ensured that both parties willingly accepted the settlements and returned home satisfied, appreciating the justice delivered in a cordial and efficient manner.Local residents and young citizens warmly welcomed the initiative, praising the District Court Poonch for extending such an important facility. Many noted that reducing heavy traffic fines for jobless youth provided significant relief at a time of economic difficulty.“This initiative deserves appreciation,” said one local youth. “The District Court and the honorable judges have given us speedy justice and great convenience. We are truly thankful for this public-friendly step.”
