Srinagar, Dec 11: As the Supreme Court of India on Monday affirmed the constitutionality of the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir, the decision elicited widespread support from the locals.
Residents of Jammu and Kashmir stated that the Supreme Court’s verdict aligns with the will of the people and reflects their aspirations.
The Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the revocation of Article 370 is perceived by many as a powerful endorsement of the constitutional changes initiated by the government in August 2019.
Beyond the legal intricacies, locals assert that the apex court has not only ratified the government’s move but, more fundamentally, has recognized and validated the collective will of the people.
Mushtaq Ahmad, an entrepreneur from Srinagar outskirts while reacting on Supreme Court’s Verdict on article 370 abrogation told Rising Kashmir that not only him, local entrepreneurs, who have long yearned for greater business opportunities, see the Supreme Court’s verdict as a reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to boost economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir.
The J&K has witnessed a surge in entrepreneurial ventures, with new businesses emerging across sectors, Mushtaq said adding, “I have experienced increased footfall and business growth which signals a promising future for local enterprises”.
Mohammad Hussain, a local tour operator, told Rising Kashmir that the Supreme Court’s verdict has provided a sense of stability and confidence to the tourism industry.
Khalil Ahmad, a senior citizen from border village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district while sharing his perspective said that as someone who has witnessed the complex history of Jammu & Kashmir, the Supreme Court’s decision brings a sense of closure.
It validates the aspirations of generations who have longed for a more integrated and harmonious future. It’s a historic moment for us, he added.
Irshad Ahmad Khan, a 37-year-old resident of Nawa Kadal, Srinagar, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Supreme Court decision upholding the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
