Baramulla, May 03: Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) is working in a focused manner and the endeavor is to ensure that the benefits of all employment generation schemes are percolated among the target population, said the board chairperson Dr Hina Shafi Bhat on Wednesday.
She enjoined upon prospective entrepreneurs especially women to come forward and channelise their energy for nation-building by establishing micro-enterprises.
Dr Hina was speaking at a daylong awareness camp at Watergam Baramulla organised by the board to ensure that the benefits of employment generation schemes are provided to the youth at the grassroots level. A series of events were carried out to aware people of the government-sponsored self-oriented schemes.
The programme was also attended by officers from district administration, banks, senior officers from the board and a large number of aspirant entrepreneurs and educated unemployed youth of the area.
During the camp, the officers gave detailed presentations about the modalities involved in implementation of employment generation programmes – PMEGP, JKREGP and other schemes.
A detailed deliberation took place wherein the stakeholders were informed that these schemes are online and aspirant entrepreneurs can apply online for availing financial assistance under these schemes.
On the occasion, the Vice Chairperson also informed that during the financial year 2022-23, Margin Money of Rs14.86 crores has been released by J&K KVIB Baramulla for the establishment of 751 units thereby creating employment opportunities for 5824 persons.
“During the last three years, margin money of Rs. 57.48 crores involving bank loan of Rs. 155.98 crores have been released in district Baramulla for the establishment of 2638 units thereby envisaging employment opportunities for 20688 persons,” she said.
Extending appreciation to the team, Dr Hina lauded the role and efforts of the board as well as bankers in the successful implementation of the scheme at the grassroots level in the district.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chairperson assured that every kind of hand-holding support shall be extended to aspirant/ prospective entrepreneurs to ensure hassle-free processing of their proposals both at the implementing agency as well as bank level.
