Kupwara Winter Cricket Championship 2023-24 kicks off with grand inaugural ceremony

Kupwara, Dec 09: The cricket enthusiasts of Kupwara gathered in full fervor on Saturday, to witness the grand inaugural ceremonies of the much-anticipated Winter Cricket Championship, across the district.
The event unfolded at Sport Stadium Panditpora, Langate; Sport Stadium Galizo; Sports Stadium Chamkote; and Sports stadium Hakaniabad Punzwa, setting the stage for a thrilling season of cricket.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of DDC Chairman, Irfan Sultan Panditpori at Langate, ADC Kupwara Ghulam Nabi Bhat at Sports Stadium Hakaniabad Punzwa, DDC Hayama Adv Amina Majeed and DDC Hayama Haji Sona-ullah Khan at Galizo, DDC Karnah Adv Najma Hamid alongwith Tehsildar and SHO Karnah at Army Cricket Ground Chamkote.
Local dignitaries, sports personalities and cricket enthusiasts were also present, in large numbers, contributing to the vibrant energy that filled the air.
The participating teams took centre stage as they were introduced to the roaring applause of the spectators at all the venues, The players, donning their team colours, exuded confidence and determination, setting the tone for an exciting series of matches ahead, across the district.
In his address, DDC Chairman, Irfan Sultan Panditpori, emphasized the importance of sports in promoting a healthy lifestyle, community engagement and instilling values of discipline and teamwork among the youth.
All the speakers applauded District Administration and the organizers for their efforts in orchestrating the event and encouraged everyone to embrace the spirit of fair play and camaraderie.
The festivities continued with cultural performances adding an extra layer of excitement to the already charged atmosphere.
The cricketing extravaganza promises not only thrilling moments on the field but will also serve as a testament to the community’s commitment to the promotion of sports.
