KU mourns colleague’s demise, holds condolence meet

Srinagar, Jan 15: The University of Kashmir mourned the sad demise of its employee Yasmeena Akhter who passed away Thursday (January 16) following a brief illness.
Yasmeena was posted at the University Health Centre as Personal Assistant and was a dedicated staff member of the University community who demonstrated an exceptional commitment in her professional responsibilities throughout her career and her absence will undoubtedly be felt across the University.
In her condolence message, Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir (KU), Prof. Nilofer Khan, expressed deep sorrow on behalf of the University community, and said “It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the loss of Yasmeena Akhter, a valued member of our university family. During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with her family and we stand united in sharing their grief and extend our deepest sympathies. We pray for the eternal peace of her soul and strength for her loved ones to bear this irreplaceable loss. The University of Kashmir, as one fraternity, offers its full support and solidarity to the bereaved family during this challenging time.”
In this regard a condolence meeting was held in the committee room of the administrative block of the university to honour the memory of the departed soul. The meeting was presided over by Registrar KU Prof. Naseer Iqbal who while expressing profound grief on behalf of the University fraternity said “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. We share their sorrow and offer our deepest support and condolences.”
A respected and valued colleague, Ms. Yasmeena leaves behind her husband, a young daughter, and elderly parents. The entire KU community extends its heartfelt condolences and sympathy to her family during this profoundly difficult time.
