Srinagar, May 25: The healthcare arrangements that were put in place at different venues in Srinagar during the G20 meet have been widely hailed by delegates and officials who were part of the meet that concluded on Wednesday.
Dr V.P. Grover, Medical Consultant and Nodal Officer, G20 Summits, MEA, New Delhi in an appreciation note congratulated the health department Kashmir for health arrangements.
“I would like to congratulate the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir for providing comprehensive health care arrangements for the G20 Tourism Working Group (TWG) meeting held in Srinagar from May 22 to 24. The facilities were truly exceptional and of world-class standards and was a learning experience for us,” he said in the appreciation note.
He has mentioned that the health care workers including doctors and paramedical staff of the health department were well trained and courteous during the arrangements.
“We would like to replicate the same health care model, especially the ICU/critical care model for the upcoming G20 Leaders Summit to be held in New Delhi in September 2023. Once again a big thank you for the well-organized service provided,” it said.
South Korean Ambassador to India, Jae-Bok Chang who also attended the 3rd Tourism Working Group meeting of G20 in Srinagar, also appreciated the health arrangements and wrote an appreciation note that read, “Thank you for the work of and service of Directorate of Health Services Kashmir. It was really well organized and prepared for the event.”
The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri has also hailed the health department for healthcare arrangements during the G20 event. “Great job by the health team, kudos to all you,” he wrote.
Administrative Secretary, Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department, Bhupinder Kumar also congratulated health team of Kashmir and appreciated them for toiling hard over the past five months for providing world-class health facilities during G20 meeting.
“Meticulous planning, smooth coordination and flawless execution of the task would remain the hallmark of the services rendered during the event. I also acknowledge the commitment and dedication with which the entire health plan was worked out and all facilities were made ready for the event well in advance,” he said.
The Health Department Kashmir had made advanced health arrangements and posted specialist doctors as part of the three-day G20 event in Srinagar.
Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather said the directorate had put in place all the arrangements for the delegates.
“I am pleased to know that arrangements have been hailed. I extend my gratitude to Administrative Secretary, H&ME Dept., Bhupinder Kumar and all the officers, officials, doctors and paramedics who worked tirelessly for the successful G20 Summit,” he said.
The DHSK said they created unique mini hospitals at venue sites and made available Intensive Care Unit facilities that were made to tackle cardiac emergencies for emergency situations.
The directorate had also set up a 24/7 divisional-level control room at Chief Medical Office Srinagar, Old Secretariat to oversee health arrangements and overall preparedness.
Apart from the health care arrangements, health officials and the health department had also made arrangements for Yoga at the venues for the G20 delegates.
Earlier, the department had trained doctors and paramedical staff in BLS and ALS for which training was held at the Regional Institute of Health & Family Welfare (RIFW), Dhobiwan.
