Jammu, July 09: In a firm action against drug trafficking, Jammu Police have booked a habitual drug peddler under the PIT-NDPS Act in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bishnah, Sub-Division R.S. Pura. The individual has been lodged in District Jail Udhampur following formal detention orders from the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu.As per a statement issued here, the accused, Shoket Ali S/O Hassan Mir R/O Sakinderpur Kothy, Bishnah, has a history of involvement in drug-related activities and multiple FIRs under NDPS Act were already registered against him. Despite previous arrests, he continued unlawful activities.To prevent further offenses, a dossier under PIT-NDPS Act was prepared and approved by the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu. The accused was taken into preventive custody by a team from Police Station Bishnah led by SHO Bishnah, under the close supervision of SDPO R.S. Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu.The local community has appreciated the proactive action by Jammu Police. This step reaffirms the commitment of District Police Jammu towards eradicating drug menace and ensuring a drug-free society.“J&K Police urges citizens to report any information related to drug trafficking and join hands in the fight against this social evil,” police said.
