Srinagar, Nov 16: The NC-Congress alliance government in Jammu and Kashmir completed its first month in office on Saturday and four key decisions were taken at providing relief to the people.
Talking to reporters in Srinagar, Chief Spokesperson JKNC and MLA Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq said that government’s commitment to fulfilling all promises made in their manifesto.
“Our government began working on its manifesto from day one, starting with the passage of the resolution on special status in the assembly. We are committed to delivering on our promises, whether it is the 12 guarantees or 25 pledges made to the people of J&K,” he said.
Sadiq said the four major decisions announced included the resolution on special status, a resolution on statehood by cabinet, restoration of the November-December academic session, and age relaxation for various job categories.
He said that the government was working to address the 10-year gap in development and assured that all demands would be met, though some may take time to implement.
Regarding recent statements by Congress leaders about Article 370, Sadiq said that the NC manifesto had promised to pass a resolution on special status, which was abrogated in 2019.
“Those criticizing this stance are deceiving themselves. This special status encompassed land rights, Article 370, and other critical provisions,” he said.
Sadiq also praised Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s efforts to restore focus and bring the government back on track. He noted that Omar has met with several leaders in New Delhi this week, received positive responses.
On October 16, Omar Abdullah became the first Chief Minister of the region since it was downgraded to Union Territory ( UT) on August 5, 2019.
Besides Omar, five cabinet ministers, Surinder Kumar Choudhary, Satish Sharma, Javed Dar, Sakina Itoo and Javed Rana, were sworn in too.
