Jammu, Oct 05: Amid queries in the media about speed sensation Umran Malik’s present status and the chances of him making comeback in Team India, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has issued clarification about Jammu jet’s present status.
In a statement issued by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, Brig Anil Gupta, Member Administration JKCA has appealed to the cricket lovers, Umran Malik’s fans and the media agencies to not make frequent queries about his comeback in the Indian team as the excessive hype on the subject might affect the morale of this young cricketer.
Brig Gupta said, Umran was picked for the prestigious Duleep Trophy this season, however, due to ill luck, he suffered from dengue and was out of the tournament.
“After recovering from dengue, Umran suffered from a toe injury and followed it with a hamstring injury. However, after recovering from his left hamstring injury, he however, complained of issues around his left hip during bowling and a consultation and subsequent scans had shown a stress fracture in his left hip,” Brig maintained.
It is pertinent to mention here that a comprehensive analysis and detailed discussions have happened over the last one week with the specialists including the radiologist, nuclear medicine specialist, infectious disease expert and endocrinologist to find out the possible causative mechanism and rule out other issues which may lead to this condition as the fracture site is very unusual and there are stress changes on the right side of the pelvis bone as well.
“He is currently in off-loading phase for the next 4-6 weeks and will progress to the next phase after relevant scans and follow up consultation with the experts,” informed Brig Gupta.
He further appealed to the people to pray for his speedy recovery as the bowler is immensely talented and deserves a place at the highest level.
He also appealed to the media to respect the player’s privacy and not to indulge in kite flying about his future.
“He is just going through a bad phase which is a common occurrence in every player’s career. We hope that after he is fully recovered, he will return to the field with fresh energy and Josh” stated Mithun Manhas, Member Cricket Operations and Development JKCA.
