Pahalgam, Aug 10: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) Sunday organised a solemn commemorative programme to mark the 350th martyrdom day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji at Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Singhpura, Pahalgam.As per a statement issued here, the event paid glowing tributes to the Ninth Sikh Guru, honouring his supreme sacrifice for the protection of human values, freedom of faith and justice. The programme began with soulful Shabad Kirtan by local Ragi Popinder Singh and his team, whose melodious renditions created an atmosphere of devotion and reverence. S. Aya Singh, a noted Parcharak, delivered a discourse on the life, teachings, and martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, inspiring the audience with the Guru’s message of peace, sacrifice and religious tolerance.Highlighting the Academy’s efforts, Popinder Singh Paras, Senior Editor of Sheeraza Punjabi, detailed the series of literary, cultural, and commemorative programmes held in connection with the occasion. Adding a youthful touch, young local talents including Tanmeet Kaur, Gurdeep Kaur, Ashmeet Singh, Jasmeet Kour, Harbans Singh, Nakashdeep Singh, Paramjit Kour, and Maldav Singh recited poems and verses dedicated to the Guru, reflecting deep admiration for his ideals and legacy. Hundreds of devotees gathered at the Gurdwara Sahib with zeal and reverence to pay homage and reaffirm the timeless message of truth, courage, and unity championed by Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The event was coordinated by Trilok Singh on behalf of JKAACL, with support from S. Kashmir Singh, Secretary of GSS Singhpura. Proceedings were anchored smoothly by S. Kashmir Singh, while Dr. Sheetal Singh, President of Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Singhpura, delivered the formal vote of thanks.
