JK-UT Judo Championship: Shrine Board’s Sports Complex Judokas bring laurels by winning 21 medals

Katra, Feb06 – The Judokas of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board’s Sports Complex, Katra have brought laurels by winning 21 medals at the 2-day JK-UT Judo Championship cum selection trial organised by J&K Judo Associations under the aegis of J&K Sports Council J&K at Jammu. Besides, 3 Judokas selected for Sub-junior and Cadet National Judo Championship are going to be held at Chennai from17th – 20th February, 2023.
As many as 22 Judokas trained and groomed at the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex, Katra participated in all the categories of this championship and won 3 gold, 11 silver and 7 bronze medals. 
In boys various sub-junior categories, Shivyam Verma got gold, Anshuman, Tushar Sharma, Rakshak and Bhawani Partap won Silver, Vipul Thakur, Adhi Verma and Varun Sharma won Bronze, whereas, in girls sub-junior categories, Arushi Rajput won Gold Medal, Akshara Sharma and Manika Sharma won Silver and Mishti won Bronze medal. In the Boy’s Cadet section category, Mukesh Singh, Sunil Sharma and Lucky Bhagat won Silver, Shubham Dogra, Prikshit Singh and Madhav Jamwal won Bronze Medal. In the Girl’s section Manvi Sharma won Gold, Simran Sharma and Sneha Sharma won Silver medal.
Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has congratulated all the Judokas for their excellent performance. He said that the Shrine Board’s under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor, JK-UT is committed to encourage the youth and provide them a platform to showcase their talents, as Sports Complex is being developed as a centre of excellence and impressed upon the sportspersons to take optimum benefit from the state-of-the-art equipment and other facilities made available at the Sports Complex. It is pertinent to mention that the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex has been producing sportspersons of national and international standards in various sporting disciplines viz., Archery, Athletics, Judo, Shooting, Badminton etc. who have been showing promising results in varied competitions.
