J&K thrash Nagaland in Women’s U-15 Trophy

Jammu, Dec 27: Promising batter Manya Banotra scored her second consecutive half-century, while Sheetal Devi and Sania Slathia again shone with the ball; Shambhavi Rajput and Bagya Lakshmi Jamwal showed guts as formidable Jammu and Kashmir thrashed Nagaland by 8 wickets to register a second consecutive victory in the ongoing Women’s U-15 One Day Tournament at Railway Cricket Ground, Rajkot on Wednesday.
Earlier, batting first, Nagaland bundled out for 96 runs in 34.5 overs. Risela Sangtam top scored with 19 runs, while Anupriya Basumatary contributed 13 runs to the meager total.
For J&K, right-arm medium pace bowler, Sania Slathia was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 important wickets by conceding just 7 runs in her 7 overs, while left-arm medium pacer Sheetal Devi also took 3 wickets by giving away 26 runs in her 7 overs. Off-spinner Bhagya Lakshmi took 2 wickets and Manya Banotra claimed one.
In reply, J&K chased the target easily in 16 overs by losing 2 wickets, thus winning the match by 8 wickets. Manya Banotra was brilliant with the willow once again as she scored magnificent 53 runs off 44 balls, studded with 9 boundaries, while Kayinat Bakshi contributed 11 runs. Shambhavi Rajput and Bagya Lakshmi Jamwal remained unbeaten on 12 and 5 runs respectively.
Imsusela Longkuner and Kajenkala claimed one wicket each for Nagaland.
“Another emphatic win by our U15 girls. Batting first Nagaland was bowled out for 97. In 16 overs JKCA scored 97/2 winning by 8 wickets. Another 50 by opener Manya. Sheetal and Sania took three wickets each. Splendid team work. Carry on, you are the best. #JKCAU15,” tweeted Brig Anil Gupta, Member-Administration JKCA.
