Srinagar, Sep 08:
In a responsive move to accommodate the requests of various political parties and stakeholders, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jammu & Kashmir has decided to extend the deadline for receiving objections and suggestions concerning the draft reservation proposal for wards in urban local bodies.
This timely decision, made in consideration of upcoming holidays and the necessity for a thorough examination of the proposal, provides stakeholders with an extended timeframe to voice their concerns and opinions. The new deadline for the submission of feedback on the proposal has been extended until September 14.
In an official notification issued by the CEO’s office, the order states, “Keeping in view the demand of various stakeholders and in order to give a fair opportunity to all stakeholders to make their claims/objections, the last date for receiving objections/suggestions w.r.t. the draft reservation notification is hereby extended to September 14.”
The CEO’s order further elaborated that numerous requests from deputy commissioners, political parties, and other stakeholders had prompted the extension of the deadline. This additional time will allow for a comprehensive review of the proposal’s intricate details.
This decision reflects the commitment of the Chief Electoral Officer to ensure a fair and inclusive process in the formation of urban local bodies’ wards reservations, taking into account the concerns and perspectives of all stakeholders involved.
