Srinagar, Feb 13: The Junior Softball team of Jammu and Kashmir was meticulously chosen after rigorous screening led by the Screening Committee of the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, spearheaded by Divisional Sports Officer Sh. Baljinder Pal Singh. The selection took place at the New Indoor Sports Complex, M.A. Stadium, Jammu, on Tuesday.
The selection follows a 15-day residential coaching camp initiated by the J&K Softball Association on February 2nd, 2024. This intensive camp, held at the Football Ground, Government Gandhi Memorial Science College, Jammu, was designed to enhance the skills and teamwork of the athletes, under the guidance of coaches Mohmad Iqbal Beigh, Sagar Chib, and Amit Sharma.
The selected team, comprising talented individuals like Bhat Talat Khurshid and Athar Hussain, is gearing up for the 41st Edition of the Junior National Softball Championship scheduled to be held in Patna, Bihar, from February 21 to 25.
The screening process witnessed the presence of key figures including Waseem Raja Khan, the Hony. General Secretary of the J&K Softball Association, and Harvinder Singh, Chief Coach of J&K Softball, alongside distinguished athletes of the sport.
Mohmad Iqbal Beigh will serve as the Coach, with Arif Hussain as the Manager, accompanying the team to the championship. Organized by the Bihar Softball Association under the aegis of the Softball Association of India, the championship will see the J&K UT Junior team competing under the banner of the J&K Softball Association and supported by the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council.
