New Delhi, Nov 24: A meeting of senior leaders from various parties was held to ensure the smooth conduct of business in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. The meeting, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, was attended by 42 leaders from 30 parties.

Addressing the Congress’ demand for priority discussions on the Adani issue alongside other matters like the unrest in Manipur, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that the business advisory committees of both Houses would decide the topics of parliamentary business, in consultation with the Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha Chairman.
Meanwhile, ahead of parliamentary session J&K Congress has demanded restoration of full statehood
Congress’ Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi, raised the Adani issue, calling it a “scam.” He urged that the government should not dismiss the demand for a discussion on any “technicality,” as the matter involves Indian institutions and investors. The Adani Group has been accused by US prosecutors of paying a bribe of USD 265 million (approximately Rs 2,200 crore) to Indian officials to secure favorable terms for solar energy contracts. However, the conglomerate has denied the allegations, stating that they are baseless and that the group complies with all laws.

Congress leader Pramod Tiwari emphasized the gravity of the issue, asserting that the government should prioritize the discussion over other matters, as it pertains to the country’s economic and security interests. He pointed out that over Rs 2,300 crore were allegedly paid by the Adani Group to secure favorable deals for its solar projects.

Gogoi also raised concerns over the ongoing violence in Manipur, criticizing the government for taking action against other leaders, such as the Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, while continuing to support Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh despite his alleged involvement in the violence.
