Srinagar, Apr 06: J&K Bank on Thursday collaborated with National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar in its Green and Clean campus initiative under Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan by providing funds under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for procurement of dustbins and garden benches.
Bank’s Zonal Head (Srinagar) Shabir Ahmad today handed over a cheque of Rupees Seven Lac to Registrar (NIT) Dr Syed Kaiser Bukhari in presence of Branch Manager (NIT) and other officials from NIT and the Bank.
Registrar NIT Dr S Kaiser Bukhari thanked the Bank for its support in making NIT one-of-its-kind green campuses in the country with a focus on reduction of carbon emissions, encouragement of green energy initiatives and preservation of ecology and environment.
Speaking on the occasion, Zonal Head said, “Partnering with prestigious institution like NIT under our CSR program makes great sense because of its location in environmentally sensitive area with Dal and Nigeen Lake in its immediate vicinity”.
“Supporting such initiatives under Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan to focus on sustaining green and clean campuses will also go a long way in contributing our bit towards preserving these water bodies”, he added.
Meanwhile, Bank also provided various amenities to Sainik Bhawan Srinagar for upgradation of facilities at their Srinagar Office in Batamaloo. Zila Sainik Welfare is an organisation that looks after the welfare of ex-Servicemen, widows, war widows etc. and their families belonging to different areas of Kashmir region.
