Srinagar, June 21: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, Anantnag, in close coordination with the District Administration, organized a grand celebration of the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025 under the universal theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” at the District Headquarters and all Zonal Headquarters.

The main district-level event, held at Anantnag, witnessed the esteemed presence of Worthy Deputy Commissioner Anantnag as the Chief Guest, along with other senior officers from civil and police administration. They collectively led the yoga session, highlighting the significance of incorporating yoga into daily life for improved health, mental peace, and holistic well-being. In a remarkable display of unity and enthusiasm, over 4,400 participants, including students, teachers, officials, and members of the local community, took part in synchronized yoga demonstrations across various venues. All Zonal Headquarters namely Zone Verinag, Doru, Qazigund, Annatnag, Vailoo, Bidder, Achabal, Shangus, Ashmuqam, Mattan, Srigufwara & Bhijbehra under the guidance of Zonal Physical Education Officers under the Department of Youth Services & Sports also held parallel yoga sessions in the morning, marking a district-wide observance of the day. The celebration concluded with a pledge to continue the practice of yoga beyond the day and integrate it as a key component of physical education and community health awareness programs throughout the year.
