New Delhi, Feb 27: Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President P.T. Usha, a legendary athlete and Rajya Sabha MP (nominated) has accepted the invitation to join the Centre for Narendra Modi Studies (CNMS) Research Committee on sports education and governance.
Usha, who is also known as the “Golden Girl of Indian Athletics”, has won multiple Asian Games and Asian Championships medals and famously finished fourth in the 400m hurdles final at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. She is also the recipient of the Arjuna Award and the Padma Shri Award.

Expressing her happiness, she said: “I am happy to know that CNMS is considering my name in the committee. With heartfelt thanks, I am ready to accept your invitation.”

Prof. Jasim Mohammad, Chairman of CNMS- NaMo Kendra, welcomed her decision, saying: “P.T. Usha is a legend in Indian sports. Her experience and knowledge will be invaluable in shaping policies and research for the future of sports education. We are honoured to have her on board.”

Prof Jasim Mohammad said that this research core committee has been formed as part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between CNMS and the National Sports University (NSU), a Central University, to promote research, academic exchanges, and innovation in sports education and governance. The initiative aims to help India achieve excellence in the field while aligning with the national vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047” and supporting the National Education Policy (NEP).
