Srinagar, Sept 07: Vice-Chancellor, Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST), Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, along with Director, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research-North East Institute of Science &Technology (CSIR-NEIST), Dr Virendra M. Tiwari, called on Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, at Raj Bhawan here.
On this occasion, the two institutions formally exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening research collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange.
The MoU marks a significant partnership between IUST and CSIR-NEIST to collaborate in the fields of mountain hydrology and disaster vulnerability in the Himalayas, priority areas that have gained urgency in light of recent climate-related events and disasters in the Himalaya.
The Lieutenant Governor congratulated the IUST and CSIR-NEIST for the timely initiative aimed at enhancing scientific research and also providing practical solutions to the pressing challenges faced by the Himalayan region.
He said the partnership will play a pivotal role in developing innovative strategies to mitigate the adverse impacts of climate change and natural disasters through advancements in science, technology, and innovation.
The signing of the MoU represents a forward-looking step in building synergies between premier institutions, reinforcing their shared commitment to addressing regional and national challenges through research, technology, and innovation.
