Srinagar, Oct 05: The valedictory function marking the conclusion of a 30-day Intensive Sericulture Training Program was held today at the Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute (CSR&TI), Pampore, under the auspices of the Central Silk Board (CSB). The event honored the efforts of the participants and acknowledged the support extended by the Sericulture Development Department of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K). Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, IAS, Director of Sericulture J&K, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Speaking at the event, Aijaz Ahmad emphasized the critical role of such training programs in enhancing the traditional sericulture practices in J&K. He expressed his gratitude to Mr. P. Sivakumar (IFS), Member Secretary of the Central Silk Board and Dr. M. Maheshwari, Director CSR&TI Pampore, for their unwavering support and efforts in strengthening the capacity building of field functionaries from the Sericulture Development Department J&K. He praised the collaboration between the CSB and the department, which continues to create opportunities for skill development and innovation in the sericulture sector.
In his address, director highlighted that these training initiatives are pivotal in introducing new techniques and innovations in sericulture, thereby benefiting silkworm rearers and farmers. He noted that through the adoption of these improved methods, the cocoon production in the region will see a substantial boost, alongside a significant augmentation in silkworm seed production across J&K.
He further expressed his satisfaction with the human resource development efforts spearheaded by the Central Silk Board and the Department of Sericulture J&K, stating that these programs not only foster
cocoon production but also contribute to the quality of the produce.
According to Aijaz Ahmad , these training programs have a profound impact on the socio-economic landscape of J&K, as they empower local communities involved in sericulture by improving their livelihoods through increased production and quality enhancement.
The Director’s address underscored the importance of continuous capacity building and training programs for the field functionaries and silkworm rearers, as they ensure the adoption of modern practices and innovations in the sericulture sector.
