Infiltration bid foiled; two terrorists neutralized in Kupwara

In a highly coordinated joint anti-terrorist operation launched by Army, Kupwara Police & BSF, an infiltration bid was foiled by neutralizing two Pakistani terrorists along the LoC in Machil Sector of Kupwara district.

A Police spokesperson said that acting on specific intelligence regarding infiltration bid by terrorists, J&K Police, Army (14 Dogra), and BSF (140Bn) launched counter-infiltration operation along LoC in Machil Sector of Kupwara. In this swift and coordinated operation, the joint team naturalized two (02) Pakistani terrorists in the wee hours, when their movement was observed along LoC, thereby ensuring the safety and security of the region. The bodies of the terrorists were retrieved by the joint team from the place of encounter. The identification and affiliation of the killed terrorists is being ascertained.

“The joint team also recovered arms & ammunition including 04 AK series rifles, 09 AK Magazines, 175 AK rounds, 06 hand grenades, a UBGL, 04 UBGL grenades and other incriminating materials from the site of encounter. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation taken up”, he said.

ADGP Kashmir in his message has said that this successful operation not only foiled the infiltration attempt but also dealt a severe blow to the plans of terrorists to disrupt peace and stability in the valley. The dedication and commitment of Jammu & Kashmir police/security force personnel involved in this anti-terrorist operation have once again demonstrated their readiness to protect the nation against all odds.
