High Scope and Benefits of Teaching Learning Maths

There is a high Scope and infinite benefits of teaching properly the basic concepts/tools required for learning Maths. First let us see that what are the basic concepts/tools required for proper learning of Maths. Four fundamental operations of Maths viz. division, multiplication, addition and subtraction on the following five kinds of numbers: (1) Natural numbers (2) Decimal numbers (3) Integers (with the help of numbers lines) (4) Rational numbers (5) Real numbers. Besides teachers must also teach "BODMAS" and basic concepts of geometry. All the Teachers must teach all the above-mentioned basic concepts/tools required for proper learning Maths with the help of rigorous practice to all the students by creating an enjoyable atmosphere in the class rooms in such a manner so that all the students must gain full command over all these basic concepts/tools equal to the most genius student of the District. This can be made possible when all the teachers will teach sincerely, honestly with strong belief and self-confidence with missionary zeal and zest with full commitment. Once all the students will gain full commands over all the basic concepts/tools required for proper learning Maths then by teaching this subject with consistency the phobia that "math is a difficult subject" can be removed from the mind of students and their parents. What is problem of the student which needs to be addressed immediately so that all the students must learn in excel in their bright career? The answer to this question is as under. As per a detailed research conducted by the different District level Committees constituted for addressing the aforementioned problem of the students following observation has been made: When students do not gain full command over four fundamental operations of Maths....command to such extent that all the students must gain command over all the basic concepts/tools equal to the most genius student of the District. When such command will not be gained then all the students would not be able to solve any problem involving these fundamental operations in such a reasonable time in which the genius student of same class belonging to same District can solve it. Then a pressure is developed in the mind of the students that study is tough or difficult for them. Because of this reason students cannot develop strong belief and self confidence upon themselves that they can learn and excel. Because of this reason a psychological impact is developed in the mind of the students that students is difficult for them. Students start loosing self confidence and strong belief upon themselves and learning gaps are developed because of this reason. On the other hands when all the four fundamental operations of Maths over five kind of numbers, BODMAS and basic concepts of geometry will be taught to all the students with sincerity and honesty so that all the students will gain full command over all the basic concepts/tools equal to most genius students of the district then Maths will become an easiest subject for all of them. Now by properly implementing paras 2.1, para 2.2 and para 4.23 of NEP 2020 is: The students /department will get following benefits:
  1. A strong belief and self confidence will be developed in the students when they will gain requisite command over all the basic concepts/tools required for learning of Maths.
  2. Students will become extraordinary efficient and intelligent. The innate talent of all the students can be discovered, nurtured, fostered and developed when all of them (students) will gain full command over all the basic concepts/tools required for proper learning of Maths.
  3. When students will gain full command over basic Numeracy then this will help in mental development as well as skill development in all the students.
  4. Dropout rate will also reduce to zero.
The Following fundamental principle of NEP 2020 specified in Para 2.2 will also be implemented properly: According the highest priority of achieving Foundational Literacy and Numeracy by all the students by grade 3rd. This will help us in churning out extraordinary efficient intelligent and competent future citizens in Artificial intelligence, machine learning and data Science which are necessary for India's future and India's leadership role in numerous upcoming fields and professions. (With this para 4.23 will be implemented properly). However with this decision there will also be greater change in the overall scenario of imparting equal quality Education to all the students due to the reasons that a strong belief and confidence will be developed in all the students which will help them (students) in acquiring the highest efficiency level. When students will gain full command over Maths then as much as interest they will take in learning Maths their mind will become that much sharp. It means Maths helps mental development of our students. Thus Maths helps in development of mental abilities, the formation of scientific views of world and all- round development of student's personality. Maths created a basis/foundation necessary for successful mastering if teaching material of all other subjects such as physics, Chemistry, technical Education, information technology and all other subjects. Maths is taught for creating opportunities to fully realize the purpose goals and tasks of education. Maths prepares students to understand the relevant contents of natural and technical Science. Maths inculcates a number of qualities and values in the students which include persistence, accuracy, objectivity, self control and sense of independent working. It helps in acquiring habits and skills in using different sources of knowledge. Maths helps in creating ability of logical thinking analytical thinking, critical thinking. Student’s thoughts are stimulated by Maths. It improves child’s intelligence. Analytical thinking improves student's opportunities to travel and discover the reality of world around them. It means Maths creates abilities of research to invent and discover new things which are important for daily use in life. Maths is helpful in Cultural development, spiritual development, Moral development, vocational development, social development, intellectual development, medical Science and agricultural development, Science and technology development, infrastructure development and Education system development. Maths is the most critical subject for achieving the goal of becoming self sufficient. It assists the students in preparing for professional and all other vocations. Maths enables the further development of Science and civilization. Maths has become a part of life and culture. It has become the Science without which life in modern world is difficult to imagine. Maths is widely used in all the human endeavors and activities which are carried out all over the universe. Maths creates abilities to become intelligent consumers investors and problem solver which means that Maths creates a strong ability of understanding decision making and problem solving in individuals. Full command over Maths will be helpful in proper planning, budget preparing and for gaining knowledge of rules/norms for pay fixation and allied matters for drawing and disbursing officers. For proper teaching of this important subject there is urgent need that an order /Circular must be issued by virtue of Maths teachers along with their immediate officers must be made responsible for properly teaching the basic concepts/tools required for proper teaching learning of this subject to such extent that all the students will gain full command over all such basic concepts/tools equal to most genius student of the concerned district, division or Union Territory and equal command to all the students can be made possible with the help of rigorous practice. Beside teams can be constituted in DIETS/SCERT for proper monitoring and implementation of such order/circular in all the Schools in letter and spirit. Once this decision will be taken and will be implemented then the scenario of teaching- learning Maths will change.
