Srinagar, July 09: State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCRET) Jammu & Kashmir, Director, Professor (Dr) Parikshat Singh Manhas on Tuesday stressed the necessity of quality education and inclusive practices within the educational system. He highlighted the significance of strong coordination between the SCRET and its associated District Institute of Education & Trainings (DIETs) to achieve educational excellence.
Dr Manhas also outlined recent initiatives within SCERT, such as the establishment of DIETs of excellence, aiming to raise educational standards under his leadership.
The Department of Educational Planning, Management, and Monitoring (EPM&M) of SCERT Kashmir Division inaugurated a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) for newly deputed faculty members of SCERT Kashmir Division and associated DIETs. The virtual inauguration was conducted by Director SCERT J&K.
The inaugural session featured active participation and insightful discussions on current trends in teacher education and the operations within SCERT and DIETs. Gulzar Ahmad Dar from EPM&M moderated the sessions, ensuring smooth proceedings.
Dr Fayaz Ahmad Bhat from EPM&M delivered the keynote address, underscoring the importance of continuous professional development to enhance education quality. He led an engaging icebreaking session to foster a collaborative and interactive environment among participants.
Nazir Ahmad Najar from the EPM&M department presented a lecture on 21st-century skills, emphasizing the need for educators to adapt to the evolving educational landscape and incorporate modern pedagogical practices.
Earlier, Mohd Sultan Khan, Head of Academic Unit II & III, and Head of Academic Unit I, spoke on the importance of such programmes in faculty professional development. They highlighted the pivotal role of SCERT and DIETs in transforming the educational ecosystem through innovative teaching practices and strategic planning.
Riyaz Ahmad Dar from SCERT Central EPM&M emphasized the importance of goal-oriented Faculty Development Programmes. “Such initiatives are crucial for meeting the objectives outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and fostering continuous learning and improvement,” he said.
The first day of the FDP laid a strong foundation for the upcoming sessions, which will cover various aspects of educational policy, planning, administration, leadership, and the integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in education.
The Department of EPM&M SCERT Kashmir Division expressed gratitude to Prof (Dr) Manhas for his inspiring words and virtual presence, looking forward to a productive and enlightening five days of learning and collaboration.
