Jammu, Nov 17: Institute of Management Sciences, Jammu on Thursday organized an Interactive Expert Session on the Story of Addiction and Substance Abuse by Dr. Tanvir Singh, Professor, University of Toledo, Ohio, USA.
Dr. Tanvir Singh is from J&K and did his MBBS from GMC Jammu before moving to University of Toledo where he did his Residency and Fellowship. He is Medical Director, Addiction Services and Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist with over 25 years of experience in this field. He highlighted the scenario regarding the drug epidemic in the country and emphasis was given on the preventive measures that need to be adopted to cease the spread of substance abuse.
The session started with a warm welcome to Dr. Tanvir Singh who was presented with a bouquet by Dr. Meenakshi Sharma, Director IMS as a token of appreciation. This was followed by an hour-long session by Dr. Tanvir Singh where he interacted with students regarding drug addiction and abuse.
He motivated the students to recognize the impact of drug use and answered their various queries and questions of students on the topic. The session was concluded by Prof J R Dhotra who presented the guest of honour with a memento as a token of and presented the formal Vote of Thanks. The Expert Session was attended by the students and faculty of BBA and BCA and MBA courses.
