Srinagar, Feb 27: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone on Tuesday cancel a transfer order that was issued by the Zonal Police Headquarters (ZPHQ) on February 25, 2024.
The move comes following instructions and clarifications provided by the Election Commission of India regarding the General Election to the House of the People (Lok Sabha) 2024 and the transfer/posting of officers. In accordance with a letter dated February 27, 2024, numbered 437/06/6/1/INST/ECI/FUNCT/MCC/2023, the transfer effected via ZPHQ order number 756 of 2024, dated February 25, 2024, is hereby cancelled ab-initio, the order reads.
“However, the instructions of the Hon’ble Election Commission of India communicated via letter number 437/6/1/EST/FUNCT/MCC/2023 dated December 21, 2023, which continue to apply to the UT of J&K, are to be adhered to in letter and spirit,” it further added.
