Srinagar, July 25:The Economic Offences Wing (Crime Branch Kashmir) has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against an individual, Shahid Rehman Bhat, son of Ab. Rehman Bhat, resident of Tulbagh Shangus, District Anantnag, for allegedly defrauding numerous innocent individuals under the false pretext of providing High-Density apple plants.
A statement issued here said that the case originates from multiple complaints received by the Economic Offences Wing, wherein the complainants alleged that Shahid Rehman Bhat, acting as the Proprietor of M/s AR Trading Agri Services Pvt. Ltd, had promised to supply High-Density Apple Plants in exchange for substantial payments. However, after collecting crores of rupees from the victims—primarily local farmers—the accused neither delivered the promised plants nor refunded the money.Subsequent to receiving the funds, the accused is said to have gone into hiding.A preliminary examination of the bank transaction records submitted by the complainants confirms the transfer of significant sums to the accused. The criminal conduct, on part of Shahid Rehman Bhat, prima facie constitutes an offence punishable under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.Taking cognisance of the matter, a case has accordingly been registered at Police Station, Economic Offences Wing, Srinagar and further investigation is underway.
