Srinagar, Jan 15: The Indian Army continues to bolster its defence capabilities along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir has deployed state-of-art advanced technology to counter infiltration and cross-border terrorism.
On the occasion of Indian Army Day, a senior Army official said that security forces along the LoC are now utilising high-tech equipment to trace any suspicious movement or activities in the region.
“In addition to human intelligence, we are employing sophisticated surveillance systems along the LoC in the Keran, Machial, Karna, Uri, and Tetwal sectors to monitor enemy activities, infiltration attempts, and other suspicious movements,” he said.
The official said that they have installed multiple hi-tech 360-degree CCTV cameras along the LoC to ensure round-the-clock surveillance. “These cameras track everything along the fence between the two countries, providing real-time data on any movement,” he added.
With the new surveillance technology in place, the Army is now able to monitor the situation at all times.
“If there is any movement at a specific location along the LoC, it is immediately cross-checked by personnel deployed at the site, and appropriate measures are then taken,” he said.
Despite the technological advancements, the Army that vigilance must not be compromised and high-tech surveillance will certainly improved our monitoring capabilities, but we remain cautious.
“Our troops are always on high alert because the enemy continually seeks to disrupt peace with its malicious intent,” he said.
The officer also highlighted the Army’s readiness to respond to ceasefire violations and other border security challenges.
“We have special arrangements in place to oversee the situation. Even during past ceasefire violations, these high-tech devices have been crucial in tracking developments. We are able to receive live footage from any point along the fence, which allows us to act swiftly,” he said.
The Army official said that the integration of advanced technology along the LoC is aimed to maintain robust defense posture, ensuring that every movement along the border is closely monitored.
“These technological innovations play a vital role in securing the region and enhancing our ability to respond to evolving threats,” he added.
Earlier, Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi said the situation along the northern border is sensitive but stable, while asserting that his force is fully ready and capable to deal with any situation.
In his address at the 77th Army Day celebrations, he also said ceasefire is maintained along the Line of Control (LoC) but “attempts to infiltrate continue”.
He said the situation along the northern border is sensitive but stable. “Our Army is fully ready and capable to deal with any situation,” the Army chief said.
