Shopian, Aug 27: Several nomadic families have been shifted to safer locations as rivers and nallahs in the district swelled following heavy rainfall.Bilal Ahmad, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zainapora, told Rising Kashmir that nomadic families camping near nallahs were relocated to safer areas.He said they visited Wanduna, Melhoora, Watchi, and Hydergund on the banks of Rambiara/Tongri Nallah and shifted 10 nomadic families from Wanduna to safer places.“The situation is being closely monitored to ensure the well-being of all people. We have already shared our helpline numbers with the public, and they can reach out to the administration anytime,” the SDM said.He added that under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner of Shopian, teams from various departments have been instructed to remain alert and extend help wherever needed.Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta, visited several villages to assess the water level amid adverse weather conditions.
