Budgam, July 11: Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Front (JKPDF) and former minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen has called for foolproof Muharram arrangements in various areas of Jammu and Kashmir including the Shia-dominated areas of Budgam and Khansahib.
He said Muharram is one of the holiest religious affairs revered by Muslim Ummah to commemorate and observe the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions.
In a statement issued here, Hakeem Yaseen while highlighting the significance of Muharram has urged the administration to make all the required arrangements to facilitate the people to observe the religious event smoothly with full religious fervour and sanctity. He urged for ensuring the availability of uninterrupted water and power supply in and around various Imambaras and Shia-dominated areas.
“All the roads, lanes and inner links leading to various Imambaras should be repaired and black topped in advance,” he said. He also urged for launching a sustained cleanliness drive in all Shia-dominated areas by pooling men and machinery of the concerned local bodies and municipal bodies.
The administration should press into service additional water tankers so that devotees do not face any inconvenience. He has demanded additional quotas of ration, sugar, LPG and kerosene to the consumers. “Availability of essential commodities should be ensured in the market and the market checking must be intensified to keep the prices of essential commodities under control,” he said.
The PDP leader called for making adequate medical facilities including first aid camps and additional ambulance services in Budgam and Khansahib areas.
