Jammu, Dec 14: Sports Department of Government Polytechnic College Jammu organised an InterDepartment Kho-Kho tournament for boys and girls in which about 150 students participated.
The participants displayed their skills using their endurance ability, flexibility, speed and agility. The principal of the college Er Arun Bangotra was the chief guest on the occasion and inaugurated the tournament in presence of all the HODs of various engineering branches.
The Principal while interacting with the teams exhorted the students to take an active part in sports and other co-curricular activities. He said sports instills leadership qualities besides inculcating the spirit of sportsmanship and a sense of abiding by the rules and regulations. Tareq Amin, Sports Secretary of the institution, presented a vote of thanks.
In the final of girls’ section, Mechanical Engineering Department trounced the Travel and Tourism Department by 12- 8 points while in the boys’ section, in a close contest between the Instrumentation and Control Department and Mechanical Engineering Department I&C Department became victorious.
Ilyas of the T&T Department, Amit from Mechanical Engineering and Anmol and Vikas from the I&C departments were among the best players during the tournament. All the arrangements were made by Chamel Singh, PEM, Toshi Devi, PET, Rishabh Gupta, Lecturer, Irfan Rasool, Demonstrator, Gautam Sharma, Manmohan Singh and Ajay Dogra.
