Jammu, July 03: The first ever Milk Bank (Comprehensive Lactation Management Centre) in Jammu and Kashmir would be set up at Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India (GoI) has accorded sanction for setting up the first ever Milk Bank (Comprehensive Lactation Management Centre) in the Union Territory of J&K.
The GoI, in an official communique to the Principal of Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, said, “Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GoI has approved Rs 47.20 lakh i.e Rs 16.61 lakh for infrastructure and Rs 30.59 lakh for equipment, furniture, supplies, consumables, and maintenance cost for the establishment of ‘Comprehensive Lactation Management Centre’ at MCH Gandhi Nagar-Jammu”.
The order of GoI further reads, “The first ever Milk Bank (Comprehensive Lactation Management Centre) in the Union Territory (UT) of J&K is allocated to Maternity and Child Hospital (MCH), Gandhi Nagar in the provisional budget sheet of 2024-25”.
The GoI’s order also directed the Medical Superintendent (MS) of Gandhi Nagar Hospital to
“open zero balance subsidiary account or designate any official bank account as dedicated zero balance subsidiary account for MCH-Gandhi Nagar and register on PMFS portal so that drawing limits can be sanctioned as per the new mechanism for release of funds under centrally sponsored schemes”.
