Ghulam Nabi Azad, visited the location of a fatal accident in Doda’s Assar. At least 39 people were killed, and several others were injured when a bus carrying passengers skidded off the road and rolled down into a 300-foot gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on November 15.
“In the wake of the recent tragedy, it’s crucial for the traffic police and administration to intensify efforts in enforcing strict adherence to traffic rules. Such measures are paramount to prevent further devastating accidents,” said Azad.
The injured passengers have been airlifted to Jammu for treatment, underscoring the urgency of improving safety measures to avoid such tragic incidents in the future.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also approved an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the unfortunate bus accident.
Additionally, he also approved an amount of Rs 1 lakh for the injured individuals and assured all possible assistance to the affected families.
