Anantnag, June 16: Department of Pharmacology, Govt Medical College Anantnag played a pivotal role in conducting day CME cum workshop on Pharmacovigilance and materiovigilance under the banner of “VIGIPHARM” at Main Campus Dialgam Anantnag. The theme of the programme was “A step towards Patient Safety”.
Dr Nasreen Jan, Assistant professor Dept of Pharmacology while welcoming the delegates said that Pharmacovigilance is a continuous process that involves monitoring, detecting, assessing, understanding and preventing adverse effects or any other drug-related problems.
Dr Mehvish Majeed in her talk told that it is a collaborative effort that involves healthcare professionals, regulators, industry, and patients, among others while maintaining vigil over adverse effects of Various drugs in market and patient safety thereof.
Chief Patron of the conference and Principal GMC Anantnag, Dr ( Prof) Tariq Syed Qureshi said that while we continue to advance in the field of medicine, it is important that we remain vigilant and proactive in our efforts to ensure that the benefits of medicines outweigh their risks. This requires a comprehensive understanding of the safety profile of each medicine, as well as the ability to detect and manage emerging risks in a timely and effective manner, he added.
Dr (Prof) Vishal R Tandon Professor pharmacology and member CDSCO from GMC Jammu gave a detailed lecture on medical content writing and vigiflow while as Dr . Harmeet Singh Rehan, Professor Director Pharmacology and Head Lady Hardinge Medical College Delhi gave a detailed speech about current challanges of Pharmacovigilance. Dr Shakir ul Rehman from GMC Baramulla, Dr Syed Sajad Hussain and Dr Majid Farooq gave detailed lectures on Materiovigilance, signal detection in Pharmacovigilance and medication errors and drug safety respectively.
Dr Marat Nabi conducted a workshop on ADR and Materiovigilance form filling.
Delegates from Himalayan Institute of Medical sciences Dehradun, Lady Hardinge Medical college Delhi, GMC Jammu, SKIMS Bemina, GMC Srinagar and GMC Baramulla attended the conference cum workshop. Dr Sajad Majid Qazi was patron of the programme while as Prof Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmad, prof Gh Jeelani Romshoo, Prof Mohd Ashraf, Dr Juhi Kalra, Dr Mansoor Ahmad and Dr Sameera Imran acted as chairpersons for various sessions during the conference. Ex Principal GMC Anantnag, Prof (Dr) Showket Jeelani graced the occasion by his presence.
Dr Sami Magray, Associate Professor and Head Dept of Pharmacology GMC Anantnag who was also chief organiser of the conference/workshop thanked all the participants and delegates for their contribution and participation in making the conference successful.
