GKF launches ‘Indian Oil Heart Clinic on Wheels’ in Pulwama

Pulwama, Apr 10: The Gauri Kaul Foundation (GKF), a non-governmental organization, in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Limited, launched a mobile diagnostic facility for cardiac screening on Thursday from Haal village in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
In 2022, the foundation established the Prasad Joo Khan Heart Centre at Haal.
Now, it has taken another step by launching the Indian Oil Heart Clinic on Wheels, a mobile diagnostic unit built on an ambulance.
Speaking to the media at Haal, Dr. Upender Kaul, Founder Director of GKF, said the mobile unit is equipped with advanced diagnostic tools including ECG, portable echocardiography with Doppler, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring equipment for a comprehensive non-invasive cardiology assessment.
He also highlighted that the facility is capable of conducting essential blood tests and delivering results within 10 minutes.
“The ambulance will travel to interior areas of Pulwama, Shopian, and Kulgam,” said Dr. Kaul, “We will provide services through existing health and wellness centres in these three districts.”
He further mentioned that the van will support diagnostic services for patients suffering from diabetes, hypertension, and other related conditions. Based on the diagnostic results, patients will be assessed and treated accordingly.
The mobile clinic is scheduled to revisit the health centres after three months to track treatment progress and effectiveness.
Dr. Kaul added that GKF plans to compile a comprehensive report detailing the outcomes, which will be shared with the government and other NGOs. He urged for the expansion of such mobile clinics in other districts, noting that a single van cannot meet the healthcare demands of the entire region.
