Doda, March 20: As part of the ongoing sports competition week, a Girls’ Boxing Competition was Thursday organised at the Indoor Sports Stadium Doda under the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ initiative.
The event was held under the able guidance of District Development Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh with the aim of promoting gender equality, empowering young girls through sports, and encouraging their participation in boxing.
The competition saw enthusiastic participation from girls representing various institutes across Doda. They showcased their skills, strength, and determination in different weight categories. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Rajesh Kotwal, Suresh Kumar Padha (ZPEO), Humerah Balwan, Manmeet Kour, Bharat Bhushan, Dr. Jaswant Singh, Dr. Arjun Singh, along with coaches and sports enthusiasts. Their presence added motivation and encouragement to the young athletes.
Speaking on the occasion, Bharat Bhushan, Chairman of DCSA Doda, highlighted the importance of sports in building confidence and resilience among young girls. He stated that such competitions send a strong message that girls are capable, strong, and ready to excel in all fields, including sports. He also reiterated that under the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ initiative, efforts will continue to ensure equal opportunities for girls in every sphere of life.
The winners of the competition will be honoured with medals, trophies, and certificates on March 26. The event concluded with a commitment to further promote sports among girls and to continue organizing similar initiatives that inspire and empower future generation
